Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler

Released: December 2011
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Pages: 354
Synopsis: Min Green and Ed Slaterton are breaking up, so Min is writing Ed a letter and giving him a box. Inside the box is why they broke up. Two bottle caps, a movie ticket, a folded note, a box of matches, a protractor, books, a toy truck, a pair of ugly earrings, a comb from a motel room, and every other item collected over the course of a giddy, intimate, heartbreaking relationship. Item after item is illustrated and accounted for, and then the box, like a girlfriend, will be dumped.

Novel by Daniel Handler | Art by Maira Kalman

My opinion :
I did not like this book whatsoever.  The characters were not at all intriguing, and the storyline was bland and nothing exciting happened.  The only thing that made me read till the last page was my curiosity.  Why did they break up?!?  Sadly when I got to the end I was disappointed; it was a normal reason for a girl to be pissed at a guy and break up with him.

The protagonist  is swearing up and down throughout the whole novel; I don't care if she was mad.  I have a pet peeve; and that is the extensive use of swear words.  The one word that always made me want to put the book down was, 'G.D.' and it was used in almost every paragraph.  So, to be honest, I hated her.  She was annoying!

In my opinion, this book was not worth the twenty dollars I put into it.  It was pretty in design, I do admit that.  It would save you a lot of time just to skip to the last few chapters and find out why they broke up, honestly.

My Book Boyfriend {2}

It is time for another book boyfriend!  This meme is normally on Wednesday; I like to do mine on Sundays, because I finish my book on that day.  This meme is hosted by The Unread Reader.

This week I have read the second instalment in the The Infernal Devices series and fell even harder for Mr. Will Honderdale.
Will is everything a girl wants.  He's sarcastic, funny, and absolutely HOT.

Will's characteristics

~Blue eyes
~Dark hair
~Muscular
~Has an attitude towards things for a reason that you will find out in this book.
~Nephilim

This novel was written by the wonderful Cassandra Clare.  She is also the author of The Mortal Instruments; Her first novel, City of Bones, will be in theaters August 2013.

The dreamy hunk I picture to be Will is :

Gaspard Ulliel

My Book Boyfriend {1}

This week I have chosen to participate in the weekly meme, My Book Boyfriend hosted by The Unread Reader.  My choice is from the novel Firelight (left) by Sophie Jordan (right).

My Book Boyfriend is :

Will Rutledge

I chose Will because he is sincere and everything about him is attractive.
There are so many things I can say about Will but I would rather use quotes!

"Whoever you are, Jacinda, you're someone I have to let in."

“You want to go out?" he asks suddenly.
I blink. "As in a date?"
"Yes. That's what a guy usually means when he asks that question.”

“A hunter in love with his prey.”

“I'll find you. I will. We'll be together again.”

"A sound escapes his lips.  A word.  I hear it, but think, no. He didn't say that. . . . Never learn if he really whispered what I think he did.  Beautiful."

Will is everything I look for in a guy.  I pictured him to look like : Colton Haynes

Absolutely perfect, in my opinion! <3

Will's traits :
-Hazel eyes
-Brownish hair
-Tan skin
-Muscular body

The Ghost and The Goth - Stacey Kade

"Alona Dare–Senior in high school, co-captain of the cheerleading squad, Homecoming Queen three years in a row, voted most likely to marry a movie star… and newly dead.

I’m the girl you hated in high school. Is it my fault I was born with it all-good looks, silky blond hair, a hot bod, and a keen sense of what everyone else should not be wearing? But my life isn’t perfect, especially since I died. Run over by a bus of band geeks—is there anything more humiliating? As it turns out, yes—watching your boyfriend and friends move on with life, only days after your funeral. And you wouldn’t believe what they’re saying about me now that they think I can’t hear them. To top it off, I’m starting to disappear, flickering in and out of existence. I don’t know where I go when I’m gone, but it’s not good. Where is that freaking white light already?

Will Killian–Senior in high school, outcast, dubbed “Will Kill” by the popular crowd for the unearthly aura around him, voted most likely to rob a bank…and a ghost-talker.

I can see, hear, and touch the dead. Unfortunately, they can also see, hear and touch me. Yeah, because surviving high school isn’t hard enough already. I’ve done my best to hide my “gift.” After all, my dad, who shared my ability, killed himself because of it when I was fifteen. But lately, pretending to be normal has gotten a lot harder. A new ghost—an anonymous, seething cloud of negative energy with the capacity to throw me around—is pursuing me with a vengeance. My mom, who knows nothing about what I can do, is worrying about the increase in odd incidents, my shrink is tossing around terms like “temporary confinement for psychiatric evaluation,” and my principal, who thinks I’m a disruption and a faker, is searching for every way possible to get rid of me. How many weeks until graduation?"-Goodreads

OH MY GOSH!!!

WAS NOT EXPECTING . . .

NO WAY?!?!

AWWWWW :)

I KNEW IT!

YAYY!!!!!!

All of these things were going through my head while I read this book!

The Ghost and The Goth has one of them covers that makes me think that I'm going to extremely dislike this book. Surprisingly, This book was amazing!! It took don't judge a book by it's cover to another level.  The cover reminds me a whole lot like Generation Dead, while I did not like at all.  The emotions I felt for the characters were overwhelming and I just loved everything about this book.

The Ghost:  Alona Dare is the most popular girl at school, until she unexpectedly dies (she got ran over by a school bus full of band geeks).   She is trying to find out how to cross over/find the light.  Then she discovers that The Goth can see her. Can he help her?

The Goth:  Will Killian is diagnosed as a schizophrenic, when in reality he can really see and hear dead people.  When he was in really big trouble, Alona steps up and claims him to help her first, which ends up making her his spirit-guide.

This book was not at all what I was expecting.  It was funny, emotional, and even a tiny bit scarey.  I have no negative comments.  I enjoyed it and want to get my hands on the second instalment.  I give it five out of five hearts!
